The Surprise Prayer. Hike 16. (5/14/14)

Yesterday morning I woke up to a text from my mom that contained a picture of a prayer. 

The prayer was written by a student at the elementary school where my mom teaches, and the prayer was for a friend of the student's family, Mrs. Eva, who was recently diagnosed with breast cancer. Not only was this such a sweet, thoughtful prayer, but it turns out that her parents had no idea that she was even writing it! I cannot think of a better example of what this project is all about. Spreading love and hope by praying for and caring about others, even if they don't know that you're doing it! So thank you, Sadie, for being an awesome example of what this project is all about.

I printed out her prayer, along with the other prayers for the day, and headed up the mountain.

 

It is literally record-breaking heat here at the moment, but I FINALLY made it up to the top, and put your prayers inside the Prayer Box.

 Hike 14!! It is a beautiful day today! The last few days have been really windy here, which has the awesome effect of blowing away all the smog in the air. So the view of the city today was super clear - I could even see the ocean!

 

Here's a picture of me on my way up. That tiny dot at the top of the mountain is The Survival Tree. If it looks really far away, that's because it is! Haha.

 

But I eventually made it to the top with your prayers, and hid them in the Prayer Box.

Hike 13! I can't believe it's already been so many! I made it up to the box in about an hour and a half. The box was right where I left it, and I put your prayers inside and hiked back down!

 On today's hike, I brought my brand new GoPro video camera!!

I'm certainly no cinematographer, but I am looking forward to going through all of the footage, and will hopefully be posting some of it soon! Today was another great hike!! I decided to wear one of the new Project Prayer Box t-shirts that my friend Ceci from Blue Dog Printing made for me! Hike 9! Back on the Trail!! (5/2/14)

After being in Houston for nearly two weeks to perform, I finally got back to L.A. yesterday and was excited to start hiking again! While I had been out of town, I received something in the mail that is just so awesome I have to share!! My friend Ceci, whose T-Shirt company (Blue Dog Printing) has printed shirts for my music, mailed me a few 'Project Prayer Box' shirts that she made! It was a total surprise, they look amazing, and I am hoping to have them for sale at some point in the near future. Stay tuned :).

 
Another exciting development that has occurred since my last hike is the addition of a new GoPro camera (compliments of my parents!) that I will be using to capture high quality video of my hikes! I didn't use it today, as I spent the entire morning at the DMV and didn't have time to set up the camera. You know how that goes. Ha. But soon, very soon!

I set out on the trail today around 11:30am, and the mountain was pretty much the way I left it!

Perhaps a few degrees warmer, as is demonstrated by this picture of me about to die.

 

I made it to the Prayer Box, though, and it was hidden safely where I had left it! I hid your prayers inside, and hiked back down!
