My wonderful friend, Melanie Hendrix, flew to L.A. from Houston over Labor Day Weekend. She brought prayers that people had given her to hike, and one of the first things she wanted to do was deliver them to the Prayer Box. But by the time I picked her up from the airport and we drove to the mountain, it was getting quite late!! We decided to hike anyway, and spent the last hour or so racing the sun down the mountain, running away from bats and strange noises in the bushes! Haha.

New Shoes, New Prayers, New Chapter. Hike 35. (8/8/14)

Today was the first hike since my mom, dad, and friends were here in L.A. to hike to The Survival Tree with me.

I woke up and put on my brand new pair of hiking shoes,

loaded up my backpack full of your prayers,

and hiked up the mountain with a strong feeling that this is the beginning of an exciting new chapter for Project Prayer Box!

When my mom and friends hiked to the tree, almost two weeks ago, it was such an indescribable journey. It really brought my mom's story full circle to be able to hike to the spot where her prayer box was hidden and to give thanks for her being CANCER-FREE!! (Stay tuned for video of our incredible hike).

Please SHARE this project and help me spread the word. There's still plenty of room in the Prayer Box for more prayers, and once it's full, I've got some BIG plans. :)

I honestly have no words that would accurately describe the experience of hiking up to The Survival Tree with my mom. I literally don't have the vocabulary to even begin to explain the feeling of walking side by side with my mom, family, and friends up the same path I have traveled countless times to the spot where my mom's prayers were hidden for so many months. It was the most beautiful moment of my life. Here are some pictures, since my words will most certainly fall short.

 

We had a professional videographer hiking with us, as well. Once I am back in L.A. I will be editing together a video of our hike, which I am super excited about. I will be posting it here as well as on the Project Prayer Box YouTube Channel.
