Rocks on the Box. Hike 18! (5/20/14)

Prayers Hiked:

Bill Peebles
Jenny
Lori Harrison
Jamie Pausewang
Kristin Harper
Lee Poquette
Lisa Pierson
and 2 more.

Yesterday's hike was great! I had my brand new snake bite kit with me (yes, for real - a story about which I will be posting soon!), so I felt a little bit more confident in the hike overall. :)

Other than the rattlesnake factor, another issue I've been dealing with lately while hiking is the wind. It's been super windy the last week or so, which isn't a complaint in and of itself because it's definitely cooled things off for me! But what is a complaint is the fact that it's been blowing the Prayer Box away from its hiding spot! A couple of times I've had to track it down by searching in the surrounding bushes and debris, which is kind of the opposite of how to avoid rattlesnakes. If you catch my drift. However, I came up with the idea of putting heavy rocks INSIDE of the box, as well as on top of it, which keeps it securely in place. Simply brilliant. :)

I made my way up to the box and put your prayers, as well as my own prayer, inside the Prayer Box.

I'd like to thank Bill Peebles for not only sending in a beautiful prayer, but for posting about it on his well-respected blog, which you should totally check out here.

Also, last thing, from now until Monday, May 26th, I am selling t-shirts in order to raise money for this project. Click here or on the picture below to purchase yours before it's too late! :).

[VIDEO] 100 Prayers and Counting!! Hike 17.

Prayers Hiked:

Dawn Stubbs
Amanda Ritchie
and 1 more.

Today I hiked the 100th prayer!! (Not including the prayers I've written each day, which would make it 117 prayers total that are hidden in the Prayer Box). It's truly amazing that so many of you have sent me your prayers in such a short time. Below is a short video I put together to celebrate the first 100 prayers, and to show part of the journey so far. Check it out:

And here's a picture from today's hike, Hike 17, taken once I made it up to the top!

The Surprise Prayer. Hike 16. (5/14/14)

Prayers Hiked:

Sadie
Lori
Mel
and 1 more.

Yesterday morning I woke up to a text from my mom that contained a picture of a prayer.

The prayer was written by a student at the elementary school where my mom teaches, and the prayer was for a friend of the student's family, Mrs. Eva, who was recently diagnosed with breast cancer. Not only was this such a sweet, thoughtful prayer, but it turns out that her parents had no idea that she was even writing it! I cannot think of a better example of what this project is all about. Spreading love and hope by praying for and caring about others, even if they don't know that you're doing it! So thank you, Sadie, for being an awesome example of what this project is all about.

I printed out her prayer, along with the other prayers for the day, and headed up the mountain.

It is literally record-breaking heat here at the moment, but I FINALLY made it up to the top, and put your prayers inside the Prayer Box.

Hike 14 - I Could See The Ocean :) (5/12/14)

Prayers Hiked

Angela Spence
Naty
Jaine
and 1 more.

Hike 14!! It is a beautiful day today! The last few days have been really windy here, which has the awesome effect of blowing away all the smog in the air. So the view of the city today was super clear - I could even see the ocean!

Here's a picture of me on my way up. That tiny dot at the top of the mountain is The Survival Tree. If it looks really far away, that's because it is! Haha.

But I eventually made it to the top with your prayers, and hid them in the Prayer Box.

Hike 13! I can't believe it's already been so many! I made it up to the box in about an hour and a half. The box was right where I left it, and I put your prayers inside and hiked back down!

You may have seen my posts about my new GoPro camera. I'm still trying to learn how it works, but here is some video I've taken so far! Pretty cool! (Watch in HD for best viewing):

Hike 10!! 5/3/14

Prayers Hiked:

Nora
Jeanne Herbert
and two more.

Today was another great hike!! I decided to wear one of the new Project Prayer Box t-shirts that my friend Ceci from Blue Dog Printing made for me! I am actually going to start selling them soon, so stay tuned for details on how to order yours! And, of course, 100% of the proceeds will go toward funding this project :).

The weather was much cooler today, which is a good thing considering I barely made it yesterday! I delivered your prayers to the Prayer Box and hiked back down. Please continue to help me spread the word by directing people to projectprayerbox.com to submit their prayers!
